Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ministry of Education will provide classrooms that are free from haze caused by land and forest fires in affected areas in Kalimantan and Sumatera, Minister of Education and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, stated in Jakarta, Tuesday.

"If the haze covers the air in the long term, we will see the condition. Later, I will soon announce a meeting to explore the possibility of providing haze-free classrooms," Effendy remarked. However, if the haze is taken care of within this week, the plan would be dropped.

Modest technology, which was also used in the previous case of fire haze back in 2015, will be installed in the classroom in cooperation with Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), he stated. The preparation takes only two to three days.

The technology covers a filter used on windows and an exhaust fan installed in the room to manage air that is circulated. There is a plan to install an aquarium inside the room to maintain humid air and oxygen production.

Besides, an interior plant will help to produce oxygen as well.

"We will prioritize vocational school (SMK) buildings since they need a practical room," Effendy added.

The haze from the land and forest fires in Kalimantan and Sumatera had compelled several schools to stop their activities due to the dense haze which led to a very unhealthy air condition.
