Palembang, South Sumatra (ANTARA Sumsel) - The Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in Jakabaring, South Sumatra, will be developed in cooperation with Japanese investor, PT Sharp, early next year, according to Governor Alex Noedin.

The governor said here on Wednesday that the Jakabaring PLTS will be developed by the regional company in cooperation with PT Sharp, the investor from Japan.

According to Noedin, the development of the solar power plant in Jakabaring aims to boost the electricity requirement during the Asian Games 2018.

Noerdin explained that for the first phase, the company will build 2 MW as a pilot project for the development of the next phase.

The development of the first phase will start by early 2017 and will be completed prior to the Asian Games 2018.

In addition to the solar power plant, state electricity company PT PLN will also build a substation in Jakabaring located in Palembang of South Sumatra.
