Palembang, South Sumatra (Antarasumsel.com) - PT Pupuk Sriwijaya (Pusri) Palembang said it is optimistic its new factory Pusri II-B would come on stream early next year .

Currently factory construction is in the final phase - 94 percent completed,  PT Pusri Palembang chief executive Mulyono Prawiro said here on Monday.

"Soon the new factory will enter the start performance test. We are optimistic it would start operation early next year,"  Mulyono added.

He said the trial operation will last for two to three weeks before the factory, built at a cost of Rp7 trillion,  starts commercial operation.

He said the factory that would produce urea fertilizer and ammonia,  uses high technology, that it is  efficient in gas consumption.

Pusri-IIB  will have a production capacity of 907,500 tons of urea fertilizer and 660,000 tons of ammonia per year.

Mulyono said the company still hopes the government would cut the price of gas for fertilizer industry to less than US$5 per MMBTU  as in China the price is only US$4 per MMBTU.

He said the company has to tighten efficiency in order to survive amid the high price of more than US$6 per MMBTU. (penerjemah AS/o001/A. Saragih)
