Palembang, S Sumatra (Antaranews Sumsel) - Coach of Sriwijaya FC soccer team, Rahmad Darmawan, has planned the trial matches for his team to be held in Java Island in January 2018, in a bid to finalize the team`s preparation for the League 1 competition.
"I planned (the trial matches) from Jan 5 to 11, 2018, as it will be entering the test phase," Darmawan said, on the sidelines of an afternoon exercise of the team, here on Monday.
The former coach of the T-Team Malaysia stated that he has expressed the planned trial matches to the Sriwijaya FC management.
"The trial matches are very important to finalize the team`s preparation. If our opponents are stronger than us, (the matches) will be used to test our confidence, whereas if the opponents are weaker than us, (the matches) are very important to try out our tactics and strategies," the coach explained.
In addition to the "tour Java" matches, Darmawan also wanted his team to take part in the upcoming presidential tournament and another tournament in Vietnam.
The team management is yet to take a decision because both tournaments have an almost concurrent schedule. The presidential tournament will take place from Jan 16 to Feb 14, 2018, while the Vietnamese tournament will be held from Jan 24 to Feb 4.
The Sriwijaya FC management will hold a leadership meeting in a bid to take decision for the trail matches.
