"There is no significant hindrance in the implementation that so far progress in development has been as scheduled," the governor said here on Friday.
Therefore, the project is expected to be completed before the opening of the next Asian Games to be held here and Jakarta in 2018, he added.
The governor said the LRT would be ready for trial operation before the opening of the largest Asian sports event.
The project is designed to facilitate public transport including the transport of athletes during the Asian Games.
The LRT, built by the central government, will link the airport of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II and the Jakabaring Sports center in Palembang.
Meanwhile, the Railway Director General Prasetyo Boeditjahjono said LRT projects will be built in a number of areas including Sumatra (Palembang), Greater Jakarta area , Sulawesi (linking Makassar and Pare-pare) and Kalimantan.
The one in Palembang is expected to be completed this year to be available and operational ahead of the 18th Asian Games.
Currently the project is 40 percent completed by state owned construction company PT Waskita Karya.
The Prosecution Office through its Government and Development Security Team (TP4) said it is ready to provide legal aid to ensure smooth implementation of Light Rail Transit(LRT) projects in the country.
Intelligence Junior Attorney General (JAM Intel) Adi Toegarisman said on Friday as part of the government, the prosecution corps is committed to helping the government in implementing its strategic projects.
TP4 also would execute reform in system and law enforcement free of corruption, having values and trustworthy, Adi said.
